Our Uva di Troia is as unique as a Platypus swimming in a stream. This wine surprises with rich flavours and bold character, reflecting the rare nature of the grape and our unique terroir.
2023 Uva di Troia
The platypus is a unique Australian animal, rarely spotted in the wild. It is one of only 2 mammals that lay eggs and electroreceptors in their bills to give them a kind of sixth sense to find food underwater whilst keeping their eyes and nose sealed.
Uva di Troia is originally from the town Troia in Puglia in the heel of Italy's boot. The vines are low yielding with big compact clusters of medium-sized thick-skinned berries. At first glance not so ideal for wine making. The number of vineyards growing Uva di Troia is limited, making this wine rarer than, uhm, well Platypus teeth!
